Sadly I consider that even if we had unlimited clean energy we would still have an energy crisis. Our energy crisis is a crisis of consumption, not an energy crisis as such. Only the people who had the means of collecting/producing that unlimited clean energy would have access to it still. So those without the means of production would be in the same situation; financially held ransom by those who have.

If this unlimited source of clean energy market was so competitive that it was not viable for companies to build/maintain the infrastructure in order to produce/collect this unlimited energy and still make a profit, then the consumer would be in exactly the same position; held to ransom by those who did provide it as the prices would then start to increase until the status quo was met (profitability)

Similarly, it is unlikely that even if there was unlimited clean energy if you looked at the situation globally, because of geographical differences (the windiest parts of the world for wind power, the sunniest parts of the world for solar production) the problems would still arise in control, perceived ‘ownership’ and distribution of that energy. Some countries would be energy rich, others energy poor.

As individuals (and countries) we could never have all the energy we needed, because of the issues outlined above and the ever increasing demand would mean that our need/want for this energy would spiral ever upwards.

There would be an impact on the natural environment and climate, even if the energy was clean, because it would be MORE energy in the atmosphere as our use accelerated due to unlimited clean energy supplies and our arrogant misconception that we can alter natural systems permanently without consequences.

Liberals would find something wrong with it, cry about it, and then tax the hell out of it.

People are motivated by money. Since the gas prices have gone up people are abandoning their SUV’s and getting more efficient cars, that has created a shortage for Prius and others like it.

I think most people will make changes out of necessity with the environment as collateral benifit.

Unfortuanately too many people believe dirty energy is someone elses problem and that our government will somehonw always be able to find a way to provide what we want.

It would be called fusion. Which is a bi-product of developing nuclear energy.

The fact that it is clean would be secondary to limitless.

The fact that energy would always be in surplus, would end the worry about brown-outs. There are always costs associated with any technology, especially new ones. Over time these costs would decrease as the demand for electricity increase.

we do have an unlimited clean power source….. it’s called the SUN and the WIND and WATER. it’s what we do with it and how we use it that makes it clean or dirty.

AND for your information, batteries…. aren’t clean, after they are finished. they are called waste.

No source of energy is unlimited or clean. Every power source has some environmental cost, even if it is comparitively small. And physics mandates that all sources must have a limit, even if it is a very high limit.

we would suffer a plague of easter bunnies and hae jolly fat men in red suits breaking into our homes via the chimney…and the fairies would light up the night so bright no one would be able to sleep
